Bamford is considered a “neighborhood school” within PSD because we have a set attendance area, and we follow Colorado state standards utilizing district-adopted curriculums as our primary curriculum resources. The primary literacy curriculum is EL Education, and the primary math curriculum is Envision. Each grade level has different state science and social studies standards, so there are different resources utilized in each grade, but we do utilize Mystery Science as a curricular resource throughout the school.
Bamford is a PBIS school, meaning we utilize positive behavior interventions and supports. We use Sources of Strength as our primary social-emotional learning curriculum. The work we do with students to accomplish academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth are all rooted in a positive culture in which we strive for an environment where all students feel safe, welcomed, valued, and connected.
We value educating the whole child by incorporating a full specials schedule with art, music, PE, STEM, and media center rotations.
Bamford has service providers to meet students’ wide range of needs like integrated services teachers, a speech language pathologist, occupational therapist, registered behavior technicians, and a school psychologist who all support students who have individualized education plans (IEPs). We have a multi-categorical integrated services program and a center-based autism program. Also, we have a gifted & talented teacher to support advanced learners, a counselor, mental health specialist, literacy interventionist, an English Language Development teacher, and instructional paraprofessionals who support students throughout the building.
In the 2024-25 school year, we have about 295 K-5 students with two classes per grade, except there are three classes in 1st grade. Our average class size is about 22 students and ranges from about 17-27. We don’t have full control over class size since we are a neighborhood school and must register anyone who lives within our boundaries, with the exception of students who receive an Integrated Services placement in center-based programming we don’t provide or have space for. We have two full-day early childhood classes with 16 students per class. See here for more information about PSD’s Early Childhood program and registration process.
