Hello! My name is Tamara Hughes, and I am thrilled to join the Bamford Elementary team as your new Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year!
I was born and raised in the Northeast and lived in several states before settling in Castle Rock, Colorado, in 2011. My husband and I spent the last two years living in Oregon, but we returned home to Colorado over the summer—and we are so excited to be exploring and loving life here in Northern Colorado!
I bring 29 years of experience in education to Bamford, supported by Master’s degrees in both School Psychology and Special Education, as well as an administrative endorsement from Colorado State University. Over the course of my career, I have taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, and K–6 special education. I’ve also served as a Master Teacher, supervisor, Section 504 Coordinator and special education specialist for an online school, instructed graduate-level ELL courses for Colorado teacher licensure, and worked in Oregon as an Assistant Principal and District Autism Consultant.
As Assistant Principal, I look forward to working alongside our wonderful principal to support our students, staff, and families. I bring a strong growth mindset and a commitment to positive school culture. I firmly believe that every student can learn every day, that school should be fun, and that nurturing both the academic and social-emotional needs of our children is essential for lifelong success.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my husband and our three cats. We are proud parents to two sons—one living in Parker, Colorado, and the other serving in the U.S. Air Force in Washington State.
I am eager to get to know all of the incredible students, staff, and families at Bamford. It’s going to be a fantastic school year!
