Hello!
My name is Monica Ver Meer and I am so excited to join the Bamford family! I have been teaching for 12 years. I have taught kindergarten, fourth grade, and first grade. I taught first grade in Poudre School District for 7 years, but love being back in kindergarten! I love working with our youngest learners and helping them grow a love for learning! Kindergarten is such a pivotal year for helping students have a strong foundation for rest of their lives!
I am a Colorado native; I grew up in Evergreen, CO and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I also have my masters in Literacy from The University of Northern Colorado and love helping students grow as readers! I am extremely passionate about incorporating high quality literature in my classroom and fostering a love of reading (and learning!) for all of my students. After I graduated from CSU, I joined Teach For America and had the opportunity to help open a school in Dallas, TX. I taught in Texas for three years but missed my home state and family so my husband, Marcus, and I returned to Fort Collins (and never looked back!).
We have a spunky, silly, kindhearted, wonderful 5-year-old girl (Hadley), a determined, curious, cuddly 1-year-old (Emersyn) and a busy Rottweiler puppy named Rubble. We love to spend time as a family cooking, baking, playing the in the backyard, and going to the pool!
I look forward to getting to know you all and being on this adventure with you at Bamford!
